We are done with another edition of our AI Talk webinar held on 10th September 2019. Our expert on Building AI Startups and Building AI Mindset, Manish Singhal, founding partner of pi Ventures, shared valuable insights.
He started the webinar by mentioning that there is so much hype and talk around AI, and everyone has a different perception about AI. In the present scenario, people are eager to distinguish what is AI and non-AI.
In the first part of the webinar, he talked about What is AI? According to him, it is the technologies that mimic human perceptions. Further, he elaborated by saying that AI works on pattern base rather than a conventional system that works on a rule base. Going ahead, he split AI into two parts- Classical programming and AI Paradigm. As per speaker, this is the basic concept of AI. He also explained that with AI, you could make a good decision in the grey area because the rule base system is limited with the rule it has.
In the second part of the webinar, he discussed why AI? He said that AI is a very useful tool. The first step towards building an AI product or AI application is to answer the question of why do you want to use AI, and there could be many reasons for that. Although it is a time-consuming system for the startups. He also discussed that while building an AI system, startups should know why there are taking up an AI system.
In the third part of the Webinar, He explained the concept of AI-first and AI second. He talked about the differences between the two. In AI-first, he said, problems can only be solved by AI, which is impossible with the rule-based system. For example, Alexa, self-driving cars, etc. In the same way, AI second problems can be solved easily, but using an AI layer can give you better results. For example, Google maps. He also said, the adoption of AI-first and AI second changes the way you build your startups. He also highlighted the main thing which is understanding of data in terms of availability, cost, access, deployment, runtime data, data model, etc.
In the last part of the webinar, he talked about Deep Learning and Feature Model Engineering. Where he said that understanding of data brings us to the concept of Deep Learning which is often overlooked, it is a network where the data is thrown, and it figures out its own features and rules. It is quite expensive but there are some problems you can't solve without it. He further explained Feature Model Engineering; it gives you a lot of help when you are dealing with a problem as you can design an FME manually and frame the model. It is one of the smart ways to build a startup.
So, from this webinar, you'll get to know the various concepts and importance of AI system to build a Startup.
